Sacred Marriage

As leaders, one area we all need to guard is our marriage.  It is easy to be successful in work or ministry, but neglect our marriages.  One of the best books Terry and I have read on marriage in the last few years is called, Sacred Marriage by Gary Thomas.  I receive notifications of new book reviews on www.christianbooksummaries.com. I recommend reading their excellent 8 page summaries of great books.  A few days ago they sent me the notice that they had summarized “Sacred Marriage”‘.  Here is what they say:

“We have just posted a summary of Sacred Marriage: What If God Designed Marriage to Make Us Holy More Than to Make Us Happy? by Gary Thomas (Zondervan) at www.christianbooksummaries.com .  This is not another “how to build a better marriage” book. Rather, it is a book on how the struggles and challenges of marriage can shape us and change us in profoundly spiritual ways. Marriage is even more than a sacred covenant. If our hearts are attuned to what God is teaching us, our marriage relationship can help us learn sacrificial love, forgiveness, servanthood, and perseverance. Marriage is a sacred tool that helps us grow spiritually in ways nothing else can.” Catherine and David Martin, Publisher

I recommend signing up www.christianbooksummaries.com to receive notifications of great book summaries.  Also, get a group of friends together and read Sacred Marriage.  Meet every other week to discuss what you are learning.  You can download a discussion guide here:  a-study-guide-for-sacred-marriage-by-gary-thomas Have fun growing!

  1. Its simply the best book on marriage ever written.
Presenting the concept that marriage is much more than permission to frolic, and a guaranteed someone always there for you when you need them.
Marriage is God’s avenue of perfecting you , the time and place that the character of Jesus becomes your character.
